Mission of the Guardianship Program:
The Arc Guardianship Program was implemented in 1990 and currently
serves wards who are disabled and elderly in Dunn County and the
surrounding areas.
Guardianship of the person is viewed as a distinct responsibility
which involves making critical decisions for a person who has been
judicially verified to be fully or partially mentally incapable of
making his or her own decisions.
The guardian is specifically charged with protecting their ward's
interests and, ensuring and exercising essential rights on their
behalf, as deemed necessary. The guardian is appointed a substitute
decision-maker for the person, and is given legal responsibility for
the protection of that person.
Corporate Guardians can serve as:
Guardian for the person
Guardian for person and estate
Representative payee for social security benefits
*Guardianship of the person and/or estate functions are specifically
regulated by the Department of Health and Social Services as a
corporate guardian under s.880.35, Stats.
